All things, Good Things (2024)

It’s that time of year again! Good Things has dropped their line up for 2024, and as Alterwave’s self-proclaimed Metal, Rock, Emo enthusiast and professional I feel it’s my absolute duty to breakdown the favourites and highlights coming to the Brisbane Showgrounds this December. Start saving your coins, because we’re in for one hell of a ride.

Last year’s line-up featured major international names in the music scene like Limp Bizkit and Fall Out Boy as headliners. Highlights and crowd favourites included Corey Taylor lead vocals for Slipknot! (Absolutely Insane, and my favourite) Hanabie, Make Them Suffer (Who are returning to Australia yet again in September!), Slaughter to Prevail, Stand Atlantic and so many more!

If it’s one thing we love about Good Things, it’s the way they still celebrate the local greats of Australian music, with Eskimo Joe and even Brisbane’s very own The Local Romance who guest spotted last year as Destroy All Lines’ Battle of the Bands finalists. And you know we’re all about supporting our upcoming Indie artists!

And even with some nostalgic comebacks; DEVO who disbanded in the early 90s, made their way back with some absolute classics we all know and love. Last year’s line-up was a perfect mix of classic rock and roll throwbacks, and new alternative bangers.

BUT THAT’S NOT WHAT WE’RE HERE FOR!

Speculations and rumours of this year’s line-up left me and fans in incredible anticipation wondering if they’d live up to last year’s insane line-up. But if it’s one thing Good Things are good at- it’s outdoing themselves each year. And without a doubt, I can say I am beyond excited to break my neck headbanging and get back into that sweaty mosh.

I’m coming undone, you’re coming undone, we’re all coming undone with Korn baby! What a headliner! But are we surprised, with their 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut album tour happening they were bound to come to our very own Brisbane, and fans were quick to throw speculations and rumours around about this, well before line-up day.

Following them is Sum 41 who like Korn are celebrating the end of an era, performing their last headlining tour ‘Tour of the Setting Sum’ finishing January 30th 2025. Soak that sweaty mosh pit in, they’re saying one last goodbye, and if the crowd are anything like last year- I know it’ll be one hell of a send-off. With supporting acts like Electric Callboy, Kerry King (Lead guitarist for Slayer), Sleeping With Sirens, Destroy Boys, and so many more, it’s no surprise how ecstatic fans (and myself) were in the comment section on announcement day.

Old Rock and heavy metal fanatics will be thrilled to see Mastodon, Violent Femme and, Jet take the stage this year, and Bowling for Soup, who haven’t been to Australia in around 15 years! All your dads will be content this year without a doubt. And of course we must mention our own Australian bands, Northlane and Alphawolf. Although disappointing to not see as many Aussie bands joining the lineup this year, I’m sure the 666 stage will announce some joining us in the months to come and be host to some incredible local talent.

Get your calendars out, Early Bird pre-sale tickets are going on sale on the 27th of August at 10am, and General sales on the 29th of August, both through OzTix and the Good Things Website. As Alterwave count down the days to festival week, (believe me we’re as excited as you are) keep an eye out as we share all the things you’ll need to know coming up to Good Things 2024.
